Emerald Junction—an Arrival!

Congratulations Emerald Junction on the release of your first album. An autumn Arrival from the PEI music scene— Kickin’ It —  is available on a number of streaming platforms and will soon be available in hard copy.

There were several surprises.  The duo consisting of Ron Kelly and Anne Quinn of  Emerald Junction recorded their tracts separately.  And amazingly, the several accompanying musicians had individual appointments! It is a high tech world….but an old winter boot hanging from the microphone succeeded in keeping it in the optimum spot! The production team of Jon Rehder and Chris Gauthier made it look effortless. Chris expertly melded the voice tracts (bringing all notes to perfect pitch among many manipulations ) with all the guest instrumentalists After recording, surprise surprise, a CD is not spit out the next day!  Indeed there is a lot of work involved in the mixing and production process, the graphics and actual CD impression, the applying for copyright, the promotion and the marketing filling  the intervening months. The gestation of Kickin’ It was 9 months. Do check out Spotify, youTube etc to sample the 10 songs, of which 5 are original compositions while you wait to get your own copy in your hands!

Emerald Junction was a major transportation hub in its day.  All PEI train lines met there as they travelled east, west, north or south. What a strange name for a musical duo! The artists wished to reflect their Irish roots and the music they make by the junction of varied genres: folk, country, international. You could say this duo is a hub of musical talent! Are you itching to see them in person?  Set your tracks for PEI where you can catch them in local shows and events during the upcoming Christmas season. Check out their Facebook page and web-site for all the info and to buy your copies of the CD…an excellent gift for the holidays!
