When You Wish Upon a Star/Quand on leve les yeux

With the season of the Perseid meteor showers drawing to a close, I wonder how many have grabbed that star and put it in their pocket for a rainy day?

Last night as I peered skyward, I saw something I have never seen before. It was brightly lit and seemed to have sections, almost pontoons. It was about 9:50 and I was about to go to sleep. I was still sharp enough to not think it was a space invader nor an oversized mosquito. It was the international space station! YES, passing over my back lawn in PEI!!

I have put that sighting in my pocket along with the other 5 shooting stars earlier in the month. The buoyant feeling seems to remain accessible for reflection and enjoyment. I may find that I will not wait for rainy days to ponder anew and relive the astonishment.

As I gazed up to the magnificent raptor, I could see the white head and tail as well as the detail in the wings. Floating on my back, riding the waves, I must not have appealed to the Bald Eagle. It was another experience to store away for a rainy or snowy day.
