Can I succeed in my quest to control all in my life? How arrogant! I have no power over so many aspects. The little I do have for the mundane choices, I exercise, of course- how I dress, how I exercise, how I continue to try to learn, how I interact with others. And even then there are multiple interactive forces impacting on me.

Ideals such as democracy have been our heritage. We are once again in the throes of an election in Quebec. How significant can one ballot be, in a riding that traditionally always supports the same party. Massive voting in a block makes me wonder about voter manipulation, fear mongering and blatant uneven media coverage, if not bias. We are controlled also by the opinions of others in our entourage, either positively or negatively.

We CAN resist the pushing. We can relent in the quest for more, and ever more. However, we can not allow ourselves to be deceived that we control all. Heavens knows that if I controlled one thing- the seasons – the streets of Montreal would now be lined with crocuses for St Patrick’s Day, and the lovely green line painted on Ste Catherine Street, would not have been buried under 18cm of snow last night!

There are no crocuses here on St. Patrick’s Day, Noella. Somethings are beyond our control. We are, however, following intently what is taking place in Quebec.
