It might not have been the most delightful winter for many, and honestly even the most diehard may be envisioning a method of escape, but every now and then there are sights that make us embrace the season. Of course outdoor sport enthusiasts have a head start. However even the most house/apartment bound citizen can exploit the lengthening days of February. The light provides sharp contrasts and the snowy blanket muffles some of the urban noises.

In Montreal we are privileged to still have several green spaces close to the heart of the city. Strolling on Olmsted road this past week, I would have taken dozens of shots. I present this one as an example of the colours and contrasts, of the trees and the cross. The 90 minute walk cleared my head and my lungs and revived my morale. Sometimes a little effort and exercise can lead to great rewards.
