Earth Day Heritage de la terre

Tonight at 8pm will you be turning the hockey game off? Closing the lights and lighting a few candles? Will you still be busy cooking at the stove or running the dishwasher or dashing off in your car? Will you be reading my blog using the computer’s power cord?

We all have read the figures of how even the short hour contributes to a decrease of luminous glare in space (the space station commander will see you even if I don’t!), the levels of pollution drop off as a result of 60 mins observation of the technological and energy ceasefire. And your health might benefit from stretching your legs and vacating the sofa or the car.

Enough moral soap-boxing! I have 2 images that motivate me to work for the integrity of creation. I can not share one of them….I am still waiting to become a grandmother!! The image I share is of a treasured corner of my world that is pure and undefiled as the ocean tides clean it regularly. Oh it changes constantly – tides, winds, objects tossed by passing ships all contribute. The sand bar once visible only at low tide is now almost always evident and soon will link an island to the mainland.

But these changes are of nature and not of man. I hope my grandchildren will see this beautiful place where their ancestors cast off to fish with no instrumentation. I trust that I can leave them the legacy of the unspoiled shores of PEI, and that we collaborate to decrease global warming and rising sea levels. Now you know my secret  reason for closing you out tonight, to preserve our heritage.

Thanks Australia for showing the way!

Pour qui, pourquoi allez-vous éteindre ce soir?
