Manipulation Let’s shake a leg today, turn a new leaf! En marche vers l’autrui

In physiotherapy, we study and use techniques of mobilisation and manipulation. While these may cause momentary pain, the goal is to obtain increased range of motion, decrease of pain and improved function.  It is a positive and useful adjunct to other modalities.

There are those who use manipulation socially. Some have it as their main card in their repertoire of human interaction, some no longer realize that they blackmail or constantly use manipulation of a milder sort to obtain their desires. I acknowledge that such behaviour can be used by all and perhaps is from time to time.

I believe time is better spent in service of others and in contributing positively to the common good. Well, I am no psychologist. I was a physiotherapist. I much prefer manipulation as a tool, one in an arsenal, for obtaining good. I guess as middle-age spread becomes a fact of life, reaching out to others becomes important and we are less and less impressed by navel gazers.
