Numbers are generally identifiers, or labels. They serve to help categorize and bring order to our universe. Some people have favourite numbers. Mine is neither 3 nor 13. But I have friends who love 13 and others who fear it. If given a choice, I will choose my favourite number or include it in a password. Numerology has built an entire world view on  numbers. Some consult their numbers to make decisions and choices. That is peculiar to my way of thinking. Mind you I love numbers. I have trouble remembering names but often will visualize a name and offer the number of letters in a name! Time is also important to me; punctuality and the measurement of delay to upcoming events (such as R-day, retirement) does figure in my world.

But the most frequent uses could be the date, and one’s age. Aside from the order one puts the numbers in to express the date, it is fairly straightforward. Age is another thing. Chronological time posts do not necessarily speak volumes of one’s condition. The big 30,40,50, or 60 as such hold little information. Comparing the young 70 versus the old 55 year old illuminates physical and mental vitality more than their designated numbers.

Well I have said nothing new. But I do have my favourite number (not lucky number) and I continue to feel 27…perhaps a bit aged in oak cask or pickled in fine brine. I hope to live this 27 for a long time!
