Larynx Optional/ Au délà du larynx

How important communication is! But a voice is not always required. No, sometimes it is not enough, not available. Remember the old jingle ‘Let your fingers do the walking’ ? Is that not the way most now research- using the internet? Chatting on social media? Walking to the library is almost so old school as to be unheard of! And yet, how much we can access at our fingertips…the entire world, actually. That is more geography than I will cover in my lifetime, and probably not even accessible to the most fit of my trekking friends and family members. What a privilege our generation holds in  its hands! And yet, do we realize how that impacts on our understanding, our openness to others and to new directions? Do we allow it to effect change in us? For me, retirement will not be static but an ongoing voyage of discovery and continuous learning. I hope to embrace the challenge of change, but I don’t promise to necessarily change but will try to be open.

Oh well. I started with the idea of body language in communication, but took quite the detour. It was a happy travel down a fork in the trail. Setting the creative option for newness and change is perhaps more fundamental for communication than anything else I could have written.
